Je suis un nouveau linuxien (encore un peut même si je commence à savoir me débrouiller), et je déprime une peut.
Déjà je voudrais éviter le dual boot (j'ai un PC pourquoi avoir deux système ? J'ai sorti Win de ma machine ce n'est pas pour finalement en réinstaller un).

J'ai terminé d'installer l'ensemble des outils qui me sont utile ; bureautique, web, ext (et je suis super contant de mon nouveau système sur ces points).

Par contre j'ai le sentiment de devoir abandonner mes jeux favoris (TheSecretWorld, Neverwinter, Skyrim, ...). Ou investir dans du matériel disproportionné par rapport à mes besoins réel 😢 .
Les installer c'est une chose, merci PlayOnLinux qui permet de faire pas mal de choses. Et j'arrive à faire quelques trucs quand même faut le reconnaitre (hearthstone fonctionne parfaitement par exemple) :
- TSW installer et stable, mais moche, enfin quand les textures s'affiche (ce qui n'est pas le cas dans toutes les zones) :/,
- Neverwinter : pas encore penché dessus
- Skyrim : en qualité moyenne (voir faible) pour ne pas avoir de lag d'affichage (en ultra sous win + qq mod pour améliorer encore les textures) et un maximum de 3 minutes de stabilité puis l'affichage de gèle, mon écran passe en mode veille, puis me ré-affiche le jeu, ..., et mon système fini par ne plus répondre du tout (sans doute que ce plantage, je dois pouvoir le résoudre d'une façon ou d'une autre, mais les lags d'affichages j'y crois moins)
- PathOfExile : lllaaaaggggggg, moins d'un fps si plus de 20 monstres sont affichés en même temps

Bref j'ai un soucis sur presque tout mes jeux un peut graphique...

Sauf erreur tout mes problèmes sont causés par le moteur 3D (OpenGL pour Linux, DirectX pour win, normal DirectX est la propriété de Ms). (<- SVP dite moi que je me trompe)
Problème que tente de contourner wine (et play on linux qui est plutôt pas mal pour installer et configurer les versions de wine qui vont bien)

Puis-je espérer une amélioration de cet état de fait ou pas vraiment ?
Si pas vraiment ... je risque de revoir ma position vis à vis du dual boot ... même si mon intestin grele risque de mal le prendre.

Avec steamOS qui est basé sur Debian ça avance, mais si tu veux choisir les jeux qui te plaisent sans te demander s'ils ont une version Linux *native*, alors je te conseille un dual boot (sur un disque séparé, c'est plus simple).
Quel carte graphique, l'accélération 3d est elle active ?

Perso. je fais tourner de vieux jeux comme toi mais du genre fps (far cry, etc...) sans problème (à part la configuration de wine au début qui est toujours prise de tête et en passant deux jours à lire les commentaires dans la db de wine).

Autre solution quelques jeux sont passés sous linux via steam.
Au passage le port de directX9 sous linux dans le projet "gallium" avance à grand pas, du coup...

Au passage on précise que steam fonctionne très bien sous Fedora, sauf avec la version de rawhide (développement) où il faut faire rediriger les librairies par défaut de steam vers les bonnes version du système.

À aucun moment tu ne dis avoir installé les pilotes propriétaires (ils sont plus performants en général).

Niveau driver, non je n'ai pas les drivers proprio (j'ai tenté à plusieurs reprise de les installer, y compris avec le patch, ça n'a jamais fonctionné, et j'ai même fini avec un kernel panic à tester un peut tout ce que je trouvais). Si qq'un peut me rediriger vers un tuto fonctionel, je dis pas non :p

Par contre comment tester si mon accélération 3D est active (et tester ma carte graphique en générale) ? J'ai bien tenté d'utiliser 'Phoronix Test Suite' (sous les conseils de VINDICATORs il me semble) mais je dois reconnaitre que j'y comprend pas grand chose :/

Alors le contenu du fichier est en réalité le contenu à remplacer dans le fichier source (firegl_public.c). Les lignes suivantes doivent être des numéros de lignes. Ensuite viens le code (avec des - sur les lignes à supprimer et des + sur les lignes a ajouter, enfin j'imagine ^^)

Bref j'ai appliquer le patch (na et tout seul)

Alors la procédure que j'ai appliqué :
Télécharger le driver (le décompresser)
Télécharger le patch (trouvé ici, le décompresser, si non le code est plus haut)
Dans une console en accès root (soit la commande "su" pour les très newbe 😉 )
cd 'dossier où le driver à été décompressé'
amd-driver-installer-14.20-x86.x86_64.run --unpack
cd fglrx-install.******
cd common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/
patch -u < 'dossier où la patch à été décompressé ou crée'/firegl_public_c.patch
cd ../../../../..
./ati-installer.sh 14.20 --install
Voila (lol réécrire la procédure m'auras pris presque plus de temps que de l'appliquer en final xD )

Bon je redémarre et je serre les fesses

Reboot -> plus d'affichage -> mode commande (ctrl + alt + F2) -> désinstallation (amd-uninstall) -> affichage tout pourris ...
Bon je reprend demain histoire de récupérer un affichage normal :/

Avant tout as-tu maintenant que tu as désinstallé le pilote proprio, un fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf ? Si oui que contient-il ?

Ensuite lorsque ton interface graphique reporte un problème, il est stocké dans le fichier /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Il faudrait voir ce qui est indiqué. et aussi si le module fglrx.ko est bien chargé et si le pilote radeon a bien été blacklisté (il ne doit pas être rapporté par la commande lsmod).

Personnellement j'utilise Xfce et le pilote AMD installé suivant cette procédure et qui a fonctionné aussitot.
Alors non, pas de fichichier xorg.conf.
Par contre deux autres fichiers "xorg.conf.fglrx-0" et "xorg.conf.original-0"

Pour en revenir au sujet (les jeux de façon générale sous Linux)

En effet le projet "gallium" semble plutôt prometteur (enfin si j'ai bien compris ce que j'ai lu, en anglais, et mon anglais reste approximatif)

L'arrivé de SteamOS pourrait aussi faire un peut bouger les choses concernant les jeux sous Linux (bon encore une fois soumis à réserve de ma bonne compréhension)

Mais pour le moment (sauf pour ceux qui réussirons à installer un driver GPU performant) vas faloir attendre encore un peut (snif ...)

Je ne pense pas être trop loin de la vérité ?
Le seul pilote GPU vraiment performant et complet pour les jeux avec linux est le pilote propriétaire de Nvidia. Malheureusement, c'est aussi la boîte qui aide le moins le monde du libre... Voire même qui pourri la vie des malheureux dev qui se trouvent confrontés à son matériel.

Mais Intel est en train de changer tout ça avec ses GPU intégrés qui deviennent de plus en plus valables pour les jeux et qui fait un vrai effort pour avoir un bon pilote libre.
2Alors... pas mal de choses bougent niveau pilote. Sachant que nvidia bidouille ses pilotes pour fonctionner avec leurs propres versions de bibliothèques...

Les choses vont bouger chez amd vu qu'ils vont plus se baser sur les modules noyau et bibliothèques existant avec rajout de choses proprio en plus. Cela evitera les problèmes de versions et d'incompatibilité qui existe vu que le noyau et le serveur graphique avancent plus vite que le développement du pilote proprio. Une sorte de pilote hybride libre/proprio en somme.

Niveau performances faut des tests comparatif et on vois que ce n'est pas forcement les nvidia propriétaire qui sont les meilleurs. .. pour les intels... c'est mieux mais cela narrive quand même pas à la cheville des amd nvidia. Mais il y a du mieux.
