Je parlais non pas du niveau d'exécution mais de niveaux (ou versions) du kernel que tu peux afficher avec la commande uname -a et se présente sous la forme 2.6.35.6-..

Le fait que tu ne rencontres ce problème qu'au niveau 5 et pas au niveau 3 pourrait faire penser à un problème lié à la carte graphique ou au serveur X...

La première chose à faire qui est indispensable pour ne plus perdre de temps est d'exécuter une passe complète de memtest. Si il y a une panne franche, une seule passe peut suffire pour la mettre évidence sinon il faudra laisser tourner plus longtemps.

Si il y a une erreur avec Memtest ça ne sert à rien de continuer et il faut d'abord résoudre cette erreur et relancer ensuite memtest.

Si cette passe complète de memtest se déroule SANS erreur, il faut ensuite mettre à jour Fedora 14.

Comme tu as des problèmes en mode graphique, le mieux est de faire cette mise à jour en mode texte en utilisant la commande yum update.

Pour la connexion à internet pour faire cette mise à jour le plus simple est d'utiliser une connexion filaire (câble et non wifi)

Après cette mise à jour complète et après avoir relancer Fedora si il y a encore des plantage il faudra relancer Memtest pour une nuit complète pour être sûr qu'il n'y a pas une panne intermittente.

Par ailleurs la machine sur laquelle tu rencontres ce problème est-elle bien le Dell Vostro 1015 de ta signature ? Sinon peux-tu fournir les informations suivantes sur ta machine:

Si laptop, marque et modèle
Si desktop de fabriquant, marque et modèle
Si desktop d'assembleur, marque et modèle de la carte mère

Si tu graves sur CD, la lecture se fait par le bus IDE et le lecteur CD, donc ça n'enlève pas plus de couche hardware potentiellement défaillante.
Vu les problèmes USB, je pense quand même que le changement de carte maman est préférable. On peut aussi voir avec un hub USB externe avec alimentation ne marcherais pas, car les ports USB fortement sollicité entraine des plantages et autres non fonctionnement du périphérique.

Si elle est sous garantie, qui est généralement 2 ans retour constructeur, n'hésite pas non plus.

Mais un test mémoire est quand même à prévoir, généralement les barrettes mémoires sont garantie 10 ans pour les barrettes de marque (à préféré aux bouses bas de gamme! qui sont souvent pas moins chère que de la marque!) retour constructeur.

Et +1 pour lecbee, sans compter que l'on peut même parfaitement utilisé généralement tout le potentiel de sa machine, cette info n'est pas valable. Sauf dans le cadre d'un livecd du style sysrescue qui se passe de la couche graphique avancée par défaut. Mais là encore cela demande l'utilisation de l'IDE/SATA.

@didierg : Je rencontre ce problème depuis le kernel 2.6.32. Pour la machine, oui il s'agit bien du Dell Vostro 1015 de ma signature.

Ca y est j'ai enfin trouvé le temps de faire tourner memtest.
Donc après 3 passes il ne détecte aucune erreur et l'instabilité sévit de plus belle.
Je vais le lancer cette nuit pour qu'il fasse plus de passes et voir si en stressant la mémoire des erreurs apparaissent.

En attendant si quelqu'un a une idée ou un retour d'expérience n'hésiter pas.

Ca y est memtest a tourné toute la journée et effectué 17 passes au cours desquelles il n'a détecté aucune erreur.
J'en déduit donc que l'instabilité ne vient pas de la RAM.

Donnez moi votre avis et si quelqu'un a une idée d'où cela peut provenir je suis à l'écoute.

Puisque tu sembles avoir des problèmes en init 5 et pas en init 3, il faudrait que tu essayes de voir si tu as les mêmes problèmes avec un autre pilote graphique, en l'occurrence à part 'intel' tu ne peux tester que 'vesa'. Pour cela il faudrait générer un xorg.conf (que tu pourras supprimer après les tests).

Tu devrais aussi voir si tu as toujours des instabilités avec une autre distribution (openSUSE, Ubuntu ou Mandriva par exemple).
on pourrait aussi regarder le contenu du fichier

/etc/X11/Xorg.0.log

Je ne sais pas si cela a un rapport avec le problème de Tuny, mais mes parents avaient des freeze récurrents avec Fedora 12. Cependant, ça ne se produisait pas forcement lors de transferts de gros fichiers.
Le problème a été résolu en changeant de prise secteur, sans utiliser la prise multiple qui était alors utilisée...

Non c'est normal. Depuis quelques versions de Xorg il n'y en a plus, c'est la détection auto qui prime, mais si tu en crée un, il prendra alors le dessus. Pour le générer, tu peux utiliser les outils de Fedora : je crois que system-config-display peut t'en générer un, mais je ne souviens plus trop si c'est cet outil ou pas. Quoiqu'il en soit, une fois généré, tu pourras modifier le pilote utilisé.

C'est bien ce programme en Fedora 13 mais il n'existe plus en Fedora 14...
Claude, tu peux essayer de modifié ton Xorg.conf avec les commandes
gnome-display-properties ou encore livna-config-display.
Cela devrait t'écrire un fichier dans ton répertoire X11.
Si ça part en Pépé et que tu n"as pas d'affichage, boot en init3 et supprime ce fichier, tu retrouvera ton affichage.

J'ai testé les deux astuces données par Rémi.
Pour le gnome-config-display il ne me crée pas de fichier xorg.conf et les informations qu'il donne ne concernent pas le pilote graphique.

Pour le livna-config-display il me crée effectivement un fichier Xorg.conf mais celui-ci est vierge.

Suis-je donc obligé de l'écrire moi-même ou y a t il une autre solution?

Mais n'y a t'il aucune ligne de ton xorg.O.log qui permettrait d'éclaircir les soupçons au niveau de ton pilote.

Je tiens juste à faire une correction, chez moi, le fichier log est sous le répertoire /var/log. (/var/log/Xorg.O.log)
Il n'est pas sous etc/.
Sinon si on ne connait pas le problème (si il y en a un) avec le pilote, un xorg.conf ne sert strictement à rien, surtout si c'est pour en écrire un standard. Pour ça la config auto sans xorg.conf fait très bien son travail, le fichier conf intervient si une configuration particulière (pour résoudre une problème précis) est nécessaire.

Je suis bien d'accord mais l'idée est pour moi de forcer le pilote vesa afin de voir si il a toujours des instabilités avec ce pilote, ce qui permettra ou non d'éclaircir son problème.

Pour forcer le pilote vesa, ne suffirait-il pas de désinstaller le pilote proprio et de laisser nouveau en blacklist ? Le kernel serait ainsi obligé de lancer le pilote vesa, il me semble ...!

Oeuf corse ! c'était un lapsus, parce que je pensais en premier au fichier xorg.conf Mais tant qu'on ne sait pas s'il y a une erreur rapportée, inutile d'aller fouiller les fichiers de conf. Et encore moins quand ils n'existent pas.
Une solution pour toi si tu as vraiment besoin d'un xorg.xonf, tu boot avec un live CD de F12 ou F13, tu génères un xorg.conf avec le paquet qui n'existe plus sous F14, tu le copies (sois sur une clée USB, sois sur ton disque dur une fois monté) et ensuite, tu le mets dans /etc/X11/.

Si ça peut t'aider.

Beaucoup plus simple :
- booter au niveau 3
- se logguer en root

Avec le paquet livna-config-display c'est une vraie catastrophe. Il me génère un Xorg.conf vierge et lorsque je redémarre le pc je n'ai même plus d'affichage.

Je vais donc commencer par le supprimer pour rétablir un affichage correct et ensuite je vous posterai le contenu de mon fichier Xorg.0.log et nous verrons s'il y a une anomalie.

Ensuite s'il y a un problème je m'attaquerai à la création de mon Xorg.conf pour le corriger.

Ça me semble logique. Si tu as un xorg.conf, il est prioritaire et s'il est vide, forcément ça se plante ! Avant de rebooter, il faut éditer ce xorg.conf vide et y mettre au minimum une Section Files ( avec le chemin pour les modules ) et une section Device avec le pilote employé ( nvidia, intel ou autre )

PS : Depuis le passage à Fedora 14 et au noyau 2.6.35.6.48 j'ai remarqué que l'instabilité a pour le moment disparue. Par exemple, hier j'ai fait une maj de 170M avec installation de la nouvelle version du kernel et Fedora n'a pas planté. Ce phénomène est vraiment étrange....

J'ai déjà vu cela aussi : un problème d'alimentation de la carte graphique. La personne a résolue ça en changeant le bloc d'alimentation. (parceque ni lui ni moi ne savons faire mieux, genre regarder le cablage à l'intérieur, bref). Pour arriver à trouver, en fait par élimination, que cela venait de l'alimentation, je ne vous raconte pas la prise de tête ! Bloc changé, plus de problème \o/

Dans le log de Xorg, perso j'y vois avant tout la beauté du truc \o/ Tout ce qui est configuré à la volée maintenant, ça fait "sauter à la tête" les fantastiques évolutions du système ces dernières années. Donc je n'y vois rien d'étrange (mais ne suis pas un spécialiste)/

As tu jeter un oeil sur le fichier ~/.xsessions-errors ? en général, il y a un peu plus d'infos. L'inconvénient c'est qu'il faut trier dedans, entre server x et applis. Donc le nettoyer complètement, puis lancer sa session graphique, et observer l'évolution de ce fichier ?

Mais perso aussi (et bien humblement) je retombe donc sur une propal de "et le matos" ? Un problème ram a été éliminé en première page. En seconde page il y a la question de l'alimentation (mais sur un portable ça semble peu probable, mais quant même, ça peux arriver) Et enfin, c'est quoi la souris utilisée ? :p Je rêve où je voit deux dev input (et sans mpx ou autre) dans tes logs ??? :p 😉 [EDIT : hum, normal aussi [/EDIT]

Pour la souris utilisée il s'agit du pad du pc je ne me sers pas de souris externe.

Je pense que c'est normal dans Xorg.0.log, il voit ça comme des souris différentes : le touchpad et les boutons clic gauche et droit .....

Moi aussi, j'ai remarqué aussi une instabilité sur mon eeePC (Atom double core N330, 2Go de ddr2, chipset Ion avec akmod-nvidia installé, / en BTRFS, home en ext4).
Quand j'utilise deluge et un lecteur video (mplayer dans mon cas), je suis quasiment sûr d'avoir un freeze de ma machine qui m'oblige a faire un reboot sauvage.

J'ai lu sur certains site que librairie vdpau (permet la décompression video materielle avec du nvidia) pouvait occasionellement créée des plantage, bien que je n'ai pas eu ce genre de soucis sur F13, ni F12)mais bon ces publications datent de quelques mois déjà.

Un ami m'as dis que je sollicite trop la machine, ca m'etonnerai car justement Tuny et moi, nous lui en avons mis pleins dans la figure avec plusieurs machines virtuelles en même temps souc F13 et ça n'as jamais planté comme ça. (Tu te souviens quand on faisait tourner en même temps backtrack, windows XP, et la béta de RHEL 6? Quest-ce ça ramait).

Et plusieurs passes de memtest me retournent aucune erreur.

Pour ton eee pc effectivement je doute que tu tire trop dessus après tout ce qu'on lui a fait subir le pauvre! Avec toutes ces machines virtuelles il ramait comme un pentium 3 voulant executer un vista! :hammer:

En tout cas si quelqu'un a une solution ou une idée permettant d'avancer sur le problème je suis preneur.

Bon petit up pour le sujet que je n'arrive désespérément pas à résoudre.

J'ai pris le temps d'installer Fedora 14 sur mon PC fixe (celui de la signature) pour voir s'il subissait des instabilités, mais rien.
Je peux le laisser plusieurs jours d'affiler allumer sans le moindre plantage.

Par contre sur le portable le souci persiste.

Je ne sais plus quoi faire et suis preneur de toutes les solutions.

Merci d'avance à tous ceux qui contribueront à faire avancer le problème.
