Bonjour,

Même si beaucoup de progrès ont été réalisés par les développeurs du pilote graphique Libre, on a parfois besoin d'installer les pilotes propriétaires de cartes graphiques afin de pouvoir bénéficier au maximum des capacités de celles-ci.
Cette étape n'est pas la plus évidente à réaliser sous Fedora, au contraire de distributions comme Ubuntu, LInuxMint, Manjaro, Opensuse, Korora etc ... qui facilitent cette tâche en proposant d'installer graphiquement les pilotes propriétaires par l'intermédiaire de Jockey ou Pharlap ou encore Yast2
Cette possibilité n'étant pas disponible nativement sous Fedora, je me permets de créer un post regroupant l'expérience des membres du forum afin de facilité, en complément de la documentation, la tâche aux nouveaux utilisateurs de Fedora. (Ceci pourrait également participer au fait de minimiser le nombre de post sur un même sujet ??)

- Distribution (version), environnement utilisé et architecture : Fedora 22, Gnome, xfce, 64bits

- Type de carte graphique : Nvidia GTX460 (

- Méthode d'installation : Ne maitrisant pas le mode init3, je coupe "gdm" (systemctl disable gdm) pour redémarrer en mode console, puis :
# dnf install akmod-nvidia kernel-devel kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686
Akmod recompile normalement et dkms sera installé de fait avec virtualbox mais je ne sais pas pourquoi je préfère l'avoir 😉 (si je dis des anneries reprenez-moi svp, nouveau c'est ton anniv', lâche toi !! :-P )
Puis je redémarre gdm : systemctl enable gdm

- Problèmes majeurs : D'autres méthodes testées, comme l'installation toute aussi manuelle du pilote téléchargé sur le site Nvidia, avec pour résultat chez moi, une impossibilité de redémarrer après des mises à jour noyau ...

Les premières lignes confirment que Nouveau est "Blacklisté"
Quand ça marche c'est cool ... Mais Nouveau (je parle cette fois du Pilote) n'a finalement pas grand chose à envier au pilote propriétaire. Je ne suis pas certain honnêtement de conserver ces derniers, sauf si je constate à la longue, une amélioration avec des logiciels comme mypaint ou Krita, ou qu'un super méga jeu auquel je n'aurai de toute façon pas beaucoup le temps de jouer sorte sous Steam !!!! :-D

Impossible de démarrer (3ème redémarrage après nouvelle instal') que s'est-il passé entre temps ?
Désinstallation des pilotes "dnf remove *nvidia*" puis réinstallation :
dnf install akmod-nvidia-340xx xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx-libs.i686
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx-libs.i686 étant nécessaire à des logiciels utilisant le 32bits comme Steam par exemple.
Plusieurs reboot, pour le moment ça va ...
On verra les futures MAJ kernel

il faudrait spécifier que ce sont des retours pour les pilotes propriétaires, car depuis plusieurs années, je n'ai jamais eu à les installer 🙂
Je n'utilise que les libres, et n'ai jamais eu de problèmes avec (j'avais eu un problème de raffraichissement, mais ça s'est résolu il y a longtemps)

Ceci dit, "Installation" n'induit-il pas qu'il s'agit ici des propriétaires puisque à ma connaissance, les Libres sont présents par défaut (?)
Je n'ai jamais eu trop de problème non plus avec Nouveau ou peut-être au début de Gnome3 ...

Alors petites précisions :
- si tu ne joues pas, effectivementles drivers propriétaires sont inutiles. Mais dans le cas contraire, je peux t'assurer que nouveau ne tiens pas la route. J'avais essayer avant de mettre les drivers proprio de jouer à Cities Skylines qui fonctionne nativement sous Linux : c'est totalement injouable. Voilà la raison des drivers nividia pour ma par. J'ai pas essayé sous wine avec nouveau, mais vu le premier test...

- Tu n'utilises pas les drivers proprio donc pas de soucis lors des mises à jour de ton kernel. Le soucis rencontrer est seulement en installlant kmod-nvidia. Hors il y a plusieurs jours (3-4) entre la mise à jour d'un kernel et celui du kmod-nvidia. Donc lors d'une mise à jour du kernel, pas de kmod avec et donc problème lors du redémarrage avec le kernel tout neuf qui n'a pas les drivers graphique. Akmod est donc obligatoire...
Ma remarque sur mon absence de problème graphique suite à une mise à jour de kernel, était ironique 🙂

Mais je n'ai jamais dit que je ne jouais pas, je ne joue plus sur PC depuis 10 ans environ, nuance ^^
(encore en activité: PS2/PS3/PS4/PS Vita/XBOX 360. EDIT: aucune n'est connectée à internet, fallait que je précise ^^)

Concernant nouveau, je n'en ai aucune idée. Je ne l'ai jamais utilisé, et sur ma seule machine qui possède une carte nvidia, je l'ai désactivée pour n'utiliser que le chipset intel.

L'installation du pilote proprio AMD est devenue un bazar sans nom. Les modifications rapides intervenant dans les sources du noyau imposent de patcher les sources du kmod avant de l'installer.

Sur F21, j'ai interdit la mise à jour du noyau pour cette raison. Le passage en 4.1.xx empêche la compilation du kmod et aucune solution n'a été publiée pour le moment.

Dans ce cas, AMD maintient bien sa réputation au niveau des drivers sous linux...
C'est malgré tout désolant car sans drivers adéquats, ça ne fonctionne pas au mieux.

Tu veux dire quoi par là ? Si un constructeur automobile sort un modèle avec des jantes de 25" sans s'assurer qu'il existe un fabricant qui puisse lui fournir des pneus adéquats, qui est fautif ?
Amd ce base sur les versions des bibliothèques disponible. Nvidia apporte ces propres versions bidouiller et anciennes...

D'après les derniers tests il reste plus grand chose au pilote proprio amd. Affaire à suivre...

Quand je regarde ce log, je ne vois rien qui échoue vraiment, c'est juste qu'il n'arrive pas à trouver d'écran (et je vous assure qu'il y en a).
J'ai essayé d'installer bumblebee via leur wiki mais ca n'a pas fonctionné non plus.

Il ne détecte pas ta carte. Il se peut que l'adresse PCI sélectionnée ne soit pas la bonne.

Il y a quoi dans le fichier xorg.conf ?
Perso c'est nVidia et pilote proprio, nouveau ne convient pas pour les quelques jeux dont je dispose.

Il est vrai que je n'ai pas essayé nouveau depuis un moment...

Pour l'installation du pilote sur mon desktop, j'utilise aussi akmod par commodité, sachant que l'installation manuelle par XFdrake est toujours possible, disons qu'avec Fedora et ses nombreuses MàJ de kernel akmod est d'autant plus pratique.

Je me dis que la raison probable pour laquelle ca ne fonctionne pas est à cause de la techno optimus qui n'est pas gérée, est-ce possible ?

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi il ne trouve le module nvidia alors que je viens de l'installer.

Donc on voit aussi très clairement, si je ne me trompe pas, qu'il ignore complètement ce qu'il y a dans xorg.conf.
Je vais essayer donc de comprendre pourquoi il ne trouve pas ce module, si vous avez une piste ?

Après avoir lu le log plus en détail, en fait il trouve bien le driver nvidia et le charge correctement pour /dev/dri/card1.
Il load le driver intel, par contre je ne vois pas l'associer avec une carte. Et juste après il essai de nouveau le charger nvidia mais n'y arrive pas.

Je ne comprends pas ce qu'il ne fonctionne pas...
Il écrit a la fin qu'il a terminé avec succès mais pourtant, il bloque a la fin du boot en mode "graphical.target".
Les dernières choses qu'il y fait sont:

Sachant qu'il écrit un peu n'importe quoi à la suite.
Et il ne se passe plus rien après ca.
