Je daigne enfin poster un message sur ce forum, pour mon passage de ubuntu à fedora ...
J'adore !

Cependant, petit problème, j'ai installé la dernière version de HPLIP 3.9.10 sur Fedora12
L'imprimante est reconnu, tout va bien, sauf pour une seule chose. Lorsque je tente d'imprimer le message suivant apparaît :
cups-missing-filter

J'ai fais plusieurs recherche, et il manquerait (apparemment) un paquet foomatic-rip-hplip qui n'est pas installé mais je ne le trouve nulle part !
J'ai vu diverses solutions qui disaient aussi de désactiver SElinux, ce que j'ai fais, et n'a rien changé...

Fonctionnelle ? Bof, ma Deskjet 5550 est reconnue, mais pas de pilote dans la base de donnée de HP !
Et pourtant j'avais tout installé ( hpijs-1:3.9.8.21.fc12.x86_64, hplip-3.9.8.21.fc12.x86_64, hplip-common-3.9.8.21.fc12.x86, plip-gui-3.9.8.21.fc12.x86_64, hplip-libs-3.9.8.21.fc12.x86_64 )
Pour imprimer, j'ai dû désinstaller tous ces rpm et laisser F12 redétecter mon imprimante au reboot. Ainsi pas de problèmes. Mais pas les fonctionnalités de Hplip !
J'avais eu le même souci avec F11.

Tu as écris un rapport de bogue à ce sujet ? Pour citer un membre éminent de ce forum : « si c'est pas sur le Bugzilla, c'est pas un bug ! ».
Parce que la 3.9.8 ne reconnait pas mon imprimante. C'est seulement depuis la 3.9.10

Non, mais je le faire. Comme je n'ai jamais fait ça auparavant, faut d'abord que je documente sur la procédure Bugzilla ...! 🙂

Bon, c'est à n'y rien comprendre. J'ai passé l'après midi à me coltiner ce problème et il est maintenant résolu.
Alors je ne sais pas trop, je suis allé bidouiller deux/trois trucs.

Primo j'ai viré hplip et l'ai réinstallé, cependant pas en "automatic" mais en "custom". J'ai choisi les services qui allaient me servir ou non.
Puis dans "/etc/cups/printers.conf" j'ai remplacé

Filter application/vnd.cups-postscript 100 foomatic-rip-hplip
Filter application/vnd.cups-pdf 0 foomatic-rip-hplip

par

Filter application/vnd.cups-postscript 100 foomatic-rip
Filter application/vnd.cups-pdf 0 foomatic-rip

car j'ai constaté que dans /usr/lib/cups/filter on avait un lien symbolique vers foomatic-rip dans /usr/bin, mais pas de foomatic-rip-hplip.

J'ai relancé cups 
su -c "/etc/init.d/cups restart"
Redémarré, lancé Applications > Accessoires > HP Device Manager et cliqué sur 'Refresh'.
J'ai tout de suite lancé une impression, et là ça a marché.

Bon ne me demandez pas si tout ce que j'ai fais est certifié, j'ai essayé divers trucs et ça a marché. Le fait est là. En espérant que ça en aidera d'autres au cas où ...
