Je pense qu'il suffit de définir le bon mode dans xorg.conf.
En root : nvidia-xconfig --mode 1280x1024
Vérifie que xorg.conf a bien été mis à jour, redémarre le serveur X, et poste les nouveaux fichiers si ça ne fonctionne pas.

Dans xorg.conf, remplace la ligne 'Modes "1280x1024"' par
 Modes     "1280x1024"  "1024x768"
Tu devrais au moins retomber sur ton ancienne résolution.


À la fin de "section 'Monitor'", il faut définir les modes 1280x1024. Ajoute les lignes suivantes :

Je les ai généré avec la commande 'gtf <xres> <yres> <refresh rate>'.
Essaie avec d'autres paramètres si tu veux.

Ton problème est dû au message
(WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0
ce qui signifie que le pilote ne trouve pas de modes prédéfinis. Il essaie alors de deviner au mieux, en bloquant la résolution maximale à 1024x768, ou bien bascule en 800x600 en cas d'echec.

Je pense que maintenant, ça devrait fonctionner. 😉
Après redémarrage du serveur X, poste les nouveaux fichiers xorg.conf et Xorg.0.log pour information.

De plus quel modèle car il semble que la résolution max soit 1440*900.
J'ai fait les modifs que tu as indiqué et je suis passé en low graphics au redémarrage de X.

Maintenant ça me dit ça:

Je crois que l'ancien fichier a été écrasé quand j'ai rebooté suite au plantage de X.

Ça ne répond pas à la question : Que s'est-il passé après que tu ais modifié le fichier, et redémarré le serveur X ?
Car normalement, tout aurait dû fonctionner. Si tu pouvais recommencer et poster le fichier d'erreur /var/log/Xorg.log correspondant, je pourrais y voir plus clair.

Je reprends cette discussion après une absence prolongée cause déplacement professionnel.

Résumé des précédents épisodes : impossible de changer la résolution de 1024x768 à 1280x1024, choix non proposé par nvidia-settings ; les modifications manuelles de Xorg.conf ne donnant aucun résultat probant.

Donc ce matin je relance la bécane et.... je me retrouve en 1280x1024 !

Sans n'avoir rien changé.

Bon j'ai fini par trouver la solution.

Le problème venait d'une appli qui tournait sous Wine. Quand je la lançais, la réso passait en 1024x768 et ne repassait pas en 1280x1024 quand je la fermais. J'ai bidouillé la configuration de l'appli directement pour qu'elle ne change pas la réso et maintenant je reste en 1280x1024 tout le temps.
