Je suis sous Kubuntu 9.04 et j'ai un problème de résolution d'écran. Je voudrais savoir si ce pb existe aussi sous F11 KDE.

Je souhaite mettre mon écran en 1280x1024. Dans nvidia-settings, on me propose plein de résolutions sauf celle là. J'ai édité xorg.conf dans tous les sens, rien à faire. Du coup, je suis condamné à rester en 1024x760 et c'est pas terrible.

Ce problème existe-il avec F11?

à ma connaissance non. Mais le driver choisit pour toi la bonne configuration. C'est un 19" que tu as ?
Il est possible sous Fedora de modifier la résolution à plus que 1024*760 (dont 1280*1024) en passant par le panneau de configuration de Nvidia.

Je précise que j'utilise Gnome, pas KDE mais je doute que la différence vienne de là.

Je m'y prend surement mal mais j'obtiens le résultat suivant:

Mon écran est un 19''. La notice du fabricant (Yuraku) précise 1280x1024, soit 5:4.
Bizarrement, nvidia-settings ne me propose que des résolutions en 4:3.
J'ai édité xorg.conf pour rajouter d'autres résolutions, mais nvidia-settings ne me les propose pas. Ou alors tout plante et je me retrouve en low graphics mode...

Laisses tomber l'outil nvidia-settings :roll:
1280x1024 est une résolution standard 4/3.

Je rappelle qu'un pixel n'est pas forcément carré 🙂
Pourrais-tu poster le fichier «/var/log/Xorg.0.log», histoire de voir ce qu'il se passe au démarrage de Xorg ?
à mon avis c'est les pilotes proprio qui bug

Je pense qu'il suffit de définir le bon mode dans xorg.conf.
En root : nvidia-xconfig --mode 1280x1024
Vérifie que xorg.conf a bien été mis à jour, redémarre le serveur X, et poste les nouveaux fichiers si ça ne fonctionne pas.
