To Log Out or Switch User, click the system menu on the right side of the top bar, click your name and then choose the right option.

Verrouillage de l'écran

If you’re leaving your computer for a short time, you should lock your screen to prevent other people from accessing your files or running applications. When you return, raise the lock screen curtain and enter your password to log back in. If you don’t lock your screen, it will lock automatically after a certain amount of time.

Mise en veille

To save power, suspend your computer when you are not using it. If you use a laptop, GNOME, by default, suspends your computer automatically when you close the lid. This saves your state to your computer’s memory and powers off most of the computer’s functions. A very small amount of power is still used during suspend.
To suspend your computer manually, click the system menu on the right side of the top bar. From there you may either hold down the Alt key and click the power off button, or simply long-click the power off button.

Introduction à GNOME

La vue d'ensemble des Activités

Bouton des activités

To access your windows and applications, click the Activities button, or just move your mouse pointer to the top-left hot corner. You can also press the Super key on your keyboard. You can see your windows and applications in the overview. You can also just start typing to search your applications, files, folders, and the web.

Click the grid button at the bottom of the dash to display the applications overview. This shows you all the applications installed on your computer. Click any application to run it, or drag an application to the overview or onto a workspace thumbnail. You can also drag an application onto the dash to make it a favorite. Your favorite applications stay in the dash even when they’re not running, so you can access them quickly.

Vous et votre ordinateur

When you leave your computer, you can lock your screen to prevent other people from using it. You can also quickly switch users without logging out completely to give somebody else access to the computer, or you can suspend or power off the computer from the menu. If you have a screen that supports vertical or horizontal rotation, you can quickly rotate the screen from the system menu. If your screen does not support rotation, you will not see the button.

Verrouillage de l'écran

When you lock your screen, or it locks automatically, the lock screen is displayed. In addition to protecting your desktop while you’re away from your computer, the lock screen displays the date and time. It also shows information about your battery and network status.

Lancement d'applications

Move your mouse pointer to the Activities corner at the top left of the screen to show the Activities overview. This is where you can find all of your applications. You can also open the overview by pressing the Super key.

There are several ways of opening an application once you’re in the Activities overview:

Start typing the name of an application — searching begins instantly. (If this doesn’t happen, click the search bar at the top of the screen and start typing.) If you don’t know the exact name of an application, try to type an related term. Click the application’s icon to start it.

For example, to launch Rhythmbox, press Alt+F2 and type ‘rhythmbox’ (without the single-quotes). The name of the app is the command to launch the program.

Fenêtres et espaces de travail

Like other desktops, GNOME uses windows to display your running applications. Using both the Activities overview and the dash, you can launch new applications and control active windows.

Rendez-vous dans l'agenda

Most distributions come with Evolution installed by default. If yours does not, you may need to install it using your distribution’s package manager.

A dot is shown under each date that has an appointment.

Existing appointments will be displayed to the left of the calendar. As appointments are added to your Evolution calendar, they will appear in the clock’s appointment list.

Qu'est-ce qu'une notification ?

For example, if you get a new chat message or a new email, you will get a notification informing you.

Masquage des notifications

If you’re working on something and do not want to be bothered, you can switch off notifications.

Open the Activities overview and start typing Notifications.

Cliquez sur Notifications pour ouvrir le panneau.

Switch Notification Banners to OFF.

When switched off, most notifications will not pop up at the top of the screen. Notifications will still be available in the message tray when you display it (by clicking on the clock, or by pressing Super+M), and they will start popping up again when you switch the toggle to ON again.

You can also disable or re-enable notifications for individual applications from the Notifications panel.

Fenêtres et espaces de travail

Like other desktops, GNOME uses windows to display your running applications. Using both the Activities overview and the dash, you can launch new applications and control active windows.

Your desktop

Customize your desktop

Ajout de vos applications préférées au lanceur

To add an application to the dash for easy access:

Open the Activities overview by clicking Activities at the top left of the screen

Basculement entre fenêtres

You can see all the running applications that have a graphical user interface in the window switcher. This makes switching between tasks a single-step process and provides a full picture of which applications are running.

Utilisation de la recherche système

Open the Activities overview by clicking Activities at the top left of the screen, or by pressing the Super key. Start typing to search.

Les éléments pouvant apparaitre dans les résultats de la recherche incluent :

des applications correspondantes, affichées en tête de liste,
des paramètres correspondants,
matching contacts,
matching documents,
matching calendar,
matching calculator,
matching software,
matching files,
matching terminal,
matching passwords and keys.

Personnalisation des résultat de la recherche

Click Search in the left panel.

Pouvez vous vérifier ?
