J'ai utilisé une clef usb pour faire l'installation et c'est bon à priori, tout marche bien (à part un petit problème avec beamer sous LaTeX, mais je vais creuser).

Je vais rester à l'installation par clef usb, ce n'est pas si pénible que cela. Et pour une fois, ça a marché avec Fedora Media Writer.

Je vais peut-être tester le netinstall. Et pour l'iso, c'est vraiment juste pour faire l'installation, donc je ne fais pas de mise à jour de la version live. Donc je m'en moque qu'il soit en lecture seule.

C'était juste que je me disais que je télécharge l'iso et il est sur mon HDD. Alors pourquoi être obligé de le copier sur une clef. C'était pour éviter cette étape, surtout qu'en général, je teste avec Fedora Media Writer, que ça ne marche pas au moment de booter, ou un truc comme ça et que du coup, je me rabats sur unetbootin. Donc ça fait souvent pas mal de manips. Mais s'il faut passer par dd, ça ne change pas grand chose au final. C'est vrai qu'il faut rendre la partition bootable, donc bon, ce n'est pas si simple.

Effectivement, ça doit faire 15 ans que j'utilise Fedora, donc la gestion basique des partitions, ça va.

Je pense que je vais passer par une live usb, parce que ça a l'air de rester plus simple que de passer par l'iso sur une partition. Surtout si je dois utiliser dd et donc griller tout ce qu'il y a sur cette partition. J'espérais juste mettre l'iso sur une partition sans la formater.

C'est ce que je veux faire. Je veux juste savoir s'il est possible de le faire en mettant l'iso sur une partition qui ne sera pas formatée plutôt que de passer par une clef usb.

En fait, je veux garder la version précédente pour pouvoir y repasser en cas de gros problème. Ça ne m'est pas arrivé depuis des années, mais on ne sait jamais. Mon ordi me sert à préparer mes cours (et pas que). Donc je préfère toujours garder un système fonctionnel au cas où.

Pour l'histoire de GRUB/UEFI, c'est parce que les tutos que j'ai vu pour booter un liveusb placé sur le disque ont 8 ans, donc je ne suis pas sûr qu'ils gèrent cela.

Et je ne veux pas faire de sys upgrade, justement pour garder ma version actuelle fonctionnelle.

Il me semble qu'une fois (il y a quand même pas mal d'années), j'ai essayé de copier mon système sur une autre partition, ce qui est déjà une grosse opération en fait, et j'ai essayé de faire la mise à jour à partir de cette copie. Mais vu que je ne l'ai jamais refait, c'est que je n'ai pas trouvé ça top à l'époque.

Maintenant, s'il y a un moyen de faire un sys upgrade tout en installant la racine sur une autre partition, ça me va.

Je ne veux pas faire de virtualisation parce que je ne veux pas tester une distrib, je veux passer sur f36, tout en essayant de conserver f34.

En gros pour mon système, j'ai un SSD avec 2 partitions pour mes 2 versions de fedora, une partition "/boot/efi" et le swap. Et le reste, avec /home est sur un HDD.

En général, je passe par un liveusb sur une clef, mais là, vu la place que j'ai sur mon système, je me dis que ce serait plus simple de mettre directement l'iso quelque part sur une partition qui ne bougerait pas.

Bonjour,

Je vais faire ma mise à jour annuelle de Fedora en passant de F34 à F36. Comme d'habitude, j'aimerais bien garder mon installation de F34 et écraser celle de F32. J'ai déjà les partitions pour cela. Donc pas de system upgrade, à moins qu'on puisse le faire sur une nouvelle partition.

D'habitude je fais ça avec une clef usb. Mais là, je me demande s'il n'est pas possible de booter directement l'iso sur un de mes HDD ou SDD ?

Il me semble avoir vu que c'était possible, mais les tutos que j'ai vu sont un peu vieux et sont basés sur BIOS alors que je suis en UEFI. Et surtout, j'ai le petit stress du "et si ça plante lors du redémarrage, est-ce que j'aurais encore accès à l'iso (je vais le mettre sur une partition qui ne sera pas formatée) ?".

Si vous avez des conseils pour ce genre d'installation, je suis preneur.

Bonjour,

Depuis des années j'utilise le thème d'icônes de Fedora qui propose des icônes de dossiers bleus. Je viens de passer de Fedora 32 à Fedora 34 et ce thème n'est plus disponible. Pourquoi tant de haine ?
Est-ce que quelqu'un sait comment le récupérer ce thème bleu ou en avoir un équivalent ?

Perso j'utilise Dropbox sans problème. Il arrive parfois (rarement) que l'application plante sans prévenir et la synchro ne se fait plus, mais c'est facile à relancer quand on s'en rend compte.

Oui, je n'ai rien de spécial dedans. Dans .bashrc, j'ai plein de choses que j'ai rajouté, mais rien sur "cd". Et dans .bash_profile, j'ai juste :

C'est bizarre. Je n'ai rien touché au niveau configuration. Par contre ça ne me le fait qu'avec un chemin relatif, pas avec un chemin absolu, et pas quand je fais juste "cd" pour revenir à mon dossier perso.

Je viens de remarquer que lorsqu'on faisait "cd", ça affichait le nom du répertoire dans lequel on allait :

Il ne me semble que pas que cela faisait ça hier encore. Je ne sais pas si c'est quelque chose qui est arrivé lors du dernier update. Ce n'est pas très grave, mais c'est quelque chose qu'on peut enlever ?

Bonjour,

Je suis un "gros" gamer sur linux et je viens de passer sur un Ryzen 3600 et je ne le regrette pas. Maintenant ce qui me limite, c'est ma carte graphique, une Nvidia GTX 960 3Go, mais franchement, je fais tourner le Doom de 2016 quasiment au max à 60fps et pour GTA5 aussi, j'arrive à monter très haut les paramètres sans perdre en performance. Donc avec les cartes qu'ils te conseillent, tu devrais être tranquille pour quelques années.

Après ça dépend si tu veux jouer en 4K ou pas, mais si c'est pour du 1080p, une 2060 devrait largement suffire. Si tu n'es pas pressé, il y a les séries 3000 qui devraient bientôt sortir, mais je n'ai pas idée des dates.

Pour les histoires Nvidia vs. AMD, il me semble que pour les portages linux des jeux comme Borderlands 2 ou Tomb Raider, c'est souvent pour les cartes Nvidia en priorité puis AMD, mais ça a pu changer depuis quelques temps. Par rapport aux jeux windows tournant sous linux avec steamplay, là, je ne crois pas qu'il y ait de vraie différence. Mais globalement, il me semble que les cartes Nvidia sont vraiment supérieurs aux cartes AMD au niveau performance.

Par rapport aux SSD, en fait on m'a expliqué que pour jouer, un HDD peut suffire puisque de toute façon tout est chargé dans la RAM et que ce qui ralentit le plus, c'est la capacité du processeur à décompresser tout ça. Bref, pour un GTA, tu gagnes quelques secondes au démarrage, mais en jeu, tu ne verras pas de différence. Bon, avec la PS4 on nous explique le contraire, mais je demande à voir.

J'ai pris 16Go de RAM et ça a l'air largement suffisant pour l'instant.

Pour la carte mère, j'ai pris une gaming b450, mais c'est parce qu'il y avait une promo. Je n'ai donc pas de port PCIe4.0, mais d'ici à ce que j'achète une carte graphique qui utilise cette technologie, j'aurai certainement l'occasion de rechanger de processeur et de carte mère, donc bon...

Sinon j'utilise une manette filaire xbox 360 officielle et elle marche avec tous les jeux de Steam ou de l'Epic Game Store (en passant par lutris) sans aucun problème. Je branche aussi de temps en temps mes manettes PS3 en filaire quand des amis viennent et globalement ça se passe bien. Mais en gros, les manettes, en tout cas en filaire, ça se passe super bien depuis quelques années.

Bref, on peut tout à fait jouer à quasiment tous les jeux PC sur linux et avec les configs que t'ont conseillée sles autres, ça devrait passer sans problème. Si jamais tu veux avoir une idée de ce qui compatible sur steam, tu peux aller voir ce site :

Comme je l'ai expliqué dans un autre sujet, j'ai deux problèmes :

[*]Un lecteur DVD qui ne doit pas répondre comme il faut lors du démarrage et qui bloque le processus du boot pendant 30s. Si je le débranche, je n'ai pas cette pause.[/*]
Est-ce qu'il est possible d'indiquer que ce n'est pas la peine d'attendre que les deux soient disponibles pour terminer le processus de boot ?

Pour le lecteur réseau, les options de montages sont :

Déjà, je ne sais pas si c'est optimal pour les options, mais je les utilise depuis des années et c'est possible que depuis il y ait plus simple ou mieux. C'est un WD MyCloud. Si j'enlève un des deux services systemd-udev-settle.service et NetworkManager-wait-online.service, le boot est plus rapide, mais la plupart du temps, le disque n'est pas monté lorsque j'arrive au bureau et je dois le faire à la main. Il me semble avoir vu une option de montage qui disait en gros "ne m'attend pas, je prends mon temps pour me monter", mais je n'arrive pas à la retrouver.

Et pour le lecteur DVD, il n'y a rien dans fstab, bien entendu, donc je ne sais pas quoi faire pour descendre le timeout ou dire au démarrage de ne rien faire. Voici les messages que j'ai au démarrage où on voit la pause de 30s :

Il me semble que lorsque j'ai fait un survol du bios lorsque j'ai changé la carte mère, je n'ai rien vu de choquant. Je retournerai voir.
Je suis en train d'inspecter mes derniers boots sur fedora 28, vu que j'ai gardé la partition. Et je trouve le même saut de 30s :

Il met un peu de temps au boot parce que je me connecte à un disque dur réseau en NFS. Il perd un peu de temps à attendre qu'il réponde. quand j'avais viré NetworkManager-wait-online.service et systemd-udev-settle.service, il n'étais pas toujours monté au démarrage et je devais le faire à la main.

Donc j'ai trouvé la cause du problème, j'ai découvert que mon HDD tout neuf n'allait pas vivre très vieux et maintenant il me reste 2 questions :
[*]Est-ce que je peux garder mon lecteur DVD sans qu'il retarde le démarrage ?[/*]
[*]Est-ce que je peux m'assurer que mon disque réseau est bien monté, sans que cela retarde le boot ?[/*]
Le montage est fait ainsi :

J'utilise cette ligne depuis quelques années, donc c'est possible que depuis, on puisse faire nettement mieux. Mais je vais peut-être faire un autre sujet pour cette question.

Sinon, j'ai retenté un boot sans NetworkManager-wait-online.service et systemd-udev-settle.service :

J'ai tenté et le temps de boot est le même. Et dans le journal, on voyait quand même apparaître les autres disques mais sans qu'ils soient montés apparemment. En tout cas, le problème ne semble pas venir de là.

Je vais regarder si ça évolue dans les jours qui viennent. Bon, là, on est HS, mais vu que je l'ai acheté sur amazon, je dois voir avec eux ou directement avec Toshiba ?

Mais je ne pense pas que le problème de mon démarrage vienne de là.

Edit:
Si je mets mon /home sur mon SSD et que j'enlève toute référence à mes autres disques dans fstab, est-ce qu'ils seront quand même pris en compte au démarrage ? Est-ce qu'il faut que je les débranche physiquement pour voir si c'est eux qui me ralentissent ?

Effectivement, tout passer en "/dev/sdXX" dans fstab n'a rien changé.
J'utilise un SSD en SATA mais vu qu'il est neuf, cela n'explique pas ce temps au démarrage.
J'avais regardé mon vieux HDD en pensant que cela pouvait venir de lui, mais il est clean. Par contre, mon nouveau HDD Toshiba sur lequel se trouve mon /home m'indique 6 "mechanical start failures".
Le disque a moins d'un mois. Donc ce n'est pas top, et il va falloir que je surveille. Mais s'il n'a eu que 6 erreurs, avec le nombre de démarrages que j'ai fait pour tester, cela n'explique probablement pas pourquoi cela fait ça à chacun de mes boot.
Je n'ai pas de problème de montage de partition qui apparaît dans les messages au démarrage. J'avais bien ce problème de swap incorrect, mais normalement je l'ai corrigé. J'ai utilisé dracut pour être sûr qu'il ne restait pas une erreur dans initramfs mais cela n'a rien changé.

Bon, alors un petit point sur mes investigations. J'ai essayé de virer tous mes LVM apparaissant dans fstab et de désactiver les services de LVM, mais ça n'a rien changé. J'ai aussi trouvé que dans ma ligne de commande grub, le UUID utilisé pour le swap était incorrect (probablement un vestige de l'installation depuis mon live usb). Du coup, je me prenais un timeout. J'ai mis le bon et j'ai pu réactiver systemd-udev-settle.service qui prenait 30s à cause de ça.

J'ai aussi testé de remettre plymouth, mais là, c'est 20s de plus direct, donc je l'ai ré-enlevé.

Il me reste donc dracut-initqueue.service qui met toujours 32s et je ne sais pas pourquoi. Je suis allé voir ici :

Mais aucune solution n'a marché pour moi.
J'ai épluché un peu tout ce que j'ai pu trouver sur internet, mais je n'ai rien vu qui puisse expliquer un tel temps au démarrage. Donc je vais faire avec, ce n'est pas si grave.
Mais si quelqu'un a une autre idée de ce que je peux regarder, je suis preneur.

Je vais quand même tester avec la syntaxe que tu proposes.
Mais je crois que le problème, c'est que si on boot en uefi, on ne peut pas faire un chainloader vers un boot en bios. Pour mon ancienne version de Fedora,ce n'est pas grave, c'était pour tester le démarrage, mais pour windows, ça veut dire que je vais devoir le réinstaller en uefi. Du coup, j'ai peur de devoir le mettre sur un HDD en GPT et de ne pas pouvoir écraser la partition où il est (vu que le disque est partitionné avec un MBR). À moins que ce soit suffisant de passer par la partition EFI que j'ai créé pour installer Fedora 32...

C'est quand même compliqué tout ça.

Bonjour,

Lors de ma mise à jour à Fedora 32, j'ai installé un SSD avec lequel je boote en utilisant UEFI. J'aimerais pouvoir rajouter mon ancienne installation de Fedora 30 qui se trouve sur mon HDD qui lui utilise MBR. Sur ce disque, j'ai une partition /boot qui me servait à lancer Fedora 30 qui est dans un LVM. J'ai essayé de rajouté une entrée dans grub en modifiant /etc/grub.d/40_custom avec :

J'ai essayé de booter en suivant ce menu, mais il m'a parlé de boot efi invalide ou quelque chose comme cela. Je n'ai pas pensé à faire une photo.
Est-ce que vous voyez ce que je peux faire ?

Mon installation de F30 est bien détectée par grub, mais lorsque je boote avec, je me prends une erreur parce qu'il a l'air de charger nouveau au lieu des drivers nvidia et le démarrage s'arrête.

Bon, j'ai enlevé plymouth du démarrage et j'ai déjà gagné une minute.
C'est au niveau de systemd-udev-settle.service que cela semble bloquer :

C'est quoi ce service ? Pourquoi il prend autant de temps ?

Edit :
J'ai masqué les services udev-settle et NetworkManager-wait et le boot est bien plus rapide.
Il reste ces 30s de dracut et je ne sais pas si je peux le virer ou pas.
En tout cas le problème ne vient pas de mon /home sur un SSD, vu que le temps du userspace est bien plus faible maintenant :

De ce que je comprends, le service dracut-initqueue sert à trouver la racine du système. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi c'est aussi long. Dans mon fstab, j'utilise des UUID. Est-ce que ce serait plus rapide en mettant directement le nom des partitions ?
