Salutatous,

J'ai un gros problème avec mon install de FC4 qui jusqu'à ce jour n'avait pas flanché. C'est donc, oh suprême sacrilège, depuis Zindoz :-D que je communique avec le forum.
Voici l'énoncé du problème: j'ai démarré ma machine ce matin et attendu le boot qui a duré au moins un quart d'heure :-? (habituellement < 1mn); ce soir j'ai redémarré la machine et là rien au bout d'1/2 h 🙁 .

Je précise qu'après la décompression du noyau il s'écoule 5mn (habituellement < 2s) et que le blocage intervient sur le message de définition du nom d'hôte.

Que se passe-t-il ?

Si l'un d'entre vous a une suggestion je suis quadruplement preneur.

Le cable rzo est il bien branché ? Quoique ça me parait un peu long...
Remplis ton /etc/sysconfig/network
Tu utilises sendmail ou postfix ?

si tu demarres avec le cd en mode rescue, tu peux aller voir dans le fichier

/var/log/messages, voir ou le processus de boot s'est arrete ?

Effectivement il pourrait s'agir d'un problème réseau.
N'y aurrait'il pas des disques partagés non accessibles ?

Tu peux aussi essayer de "rebooter" ton routeur si tu en as un.

Nan, si le noyau met 5 plombes a se decompresser c'est un probleme hard. Le reseau ne joue pas encore a ce niveau la.

Ca peut-être un problème réseau, puisque au moment de la définition du nom d'hôte.

Bon, j'ai regardé les message log et je n'ai rien vu. Il faut en fait 8 minutes pour que la machine boote. Si vous trouvez quelque chose qui cloche dans le log de boot extrait de messages ci-dessous:?

Ton disque "hda" a un problème (est-ce un lecteur de CD ou DVD, je dis çà à cause du Tray-Open).
Si c'est un disque dur, il faut faire un "fsck" en démarrant sur le CD d'installation en tapant "linux rescue".
Si c'est un lecteur de CD/DVD, débranche la nappe derrière et reboot. Si tout est OK alors t'as plus qu'à en acheter un autre.

Deuxième constatation :

Ca n'est pas l'origine de ton pb, mais ca n'accélère pas le réseau.

IPV6 est activé... Désactives le.
Il faut modifier "/etc/modprobe.conf" et mettre

alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off

Ne pas oublier un retour charriot après la dernière ligne.

c'est à dire qu'il s'est passé 38 secondes entre l'appui sur le bouton poweron de l'ordi et le login de root. Ca me semble pas vraiment caractéristique d'une machine en panne.

Tu veux une idée? Essaie un autre clavier, il y a trop d'erreurs de kbd

Merci Marcet le diagnostic était bon. Bon, alors voici le résultat des courses: Le problème venait bien du disque hda qui est un graveur de dvd. En fait un CD oublié dans le graveur était responsable du problème, lequel ne mouftait pas (aucun bruit de rotation de moteur). Le retrait du CD a résolu le premier problème.
J'ai effectué les corrections que tu m'as conseillé. Je vais bientôt tenter le reboot.

Non. La commande "hostname" ne fait aucune requete au reseau. Elle ne fait qu'un appel systeme qui va lire ou changer le nom de la machine qui est stocke dans le noyau. Pas sur une tierce machine.

Juste pour info, c'est la couche d'acces au medium qui hurle ici, pas le filesystem. Si ca avait ete un disque dur, un fsck n'aurait rien arrange. Un formattage bas niveau, peut-etre. Sinon poubelle.
