J'ai un DELL E4300, ce dernier est, l aplupart du temps, branch'e sur un ecran DELL optimise pour le 1680x1050.
J'ai bien vu 2 ou 3 posts qui expliquent commetn ajouter la nouvelle config cependant il me semble que depuis
Fedora 10 (ou encore avant ?) il n'y a plus de fichier xorg.conf mais un fichier xorg.cf.

La je suis sous F11 et je ne vois ni l'un ni l'autre !
Dois-je les creer de toutes pieces ?
Quel fil me conseillez vous pour resoudre en douceur l'ajout de la config 1680x1050 ?

Si non je suis etonne depuis les dernieres versions de Fedora je susi habitue a voir
les resolutions les plus exotiques etre prises automatiquement...

Depuis F10 et son nouvel Xorg, il n'y a pas obligatoirement de fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
En fait en cas d'absence de ce fichier Xorg essaie de reconnaitre le matériel et de s'auto-configurer.

Essaie de voir le log de Xorg
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
pour voir comment est reconnu ton matériel.

Tu peux aussi essayer
system-config-display
ou
system-config-display --reconfigure
pour voir si ce produit reconnait ton materiel.

Le lancement de system-config-display n'a rien fait, j'ai pourtant dit dans l'onglet "Moniteur" que j'avais un1680x1050 mais rien n'y fait il se met toujours en 1280x1024. mon xrog.conf ressemble à ça maintenant :

Je sais qu'en utilisant system-settings cela marchait mais il fallait que je renouvelle l'opération chaque démarrage à savoir lancer system-settings et aller dans display.

Savez vous comment installer l'application qui permet de lancer la commande system-settings ?
il me semble que c'est un appli KDE. Je sais qu'avec ça cela marche mais il faut lancer le menu à chaque
fois...

Ou bien si vous avez d'autres suggestions merci !

Hier soir je faisais des essais en jouant directement dans : System > Preferences > Display, en indiquant que je voualis l'écran "unknown" en 1680 x 1050 et lce matin automatiquement il se met
en 1650 x 1050 ! Par contre il me sort que cela engendre un kernel failure.

Dois-je tenter ta solution (Bubo) ou bien je devrais rester comme cela.

Je te conseillerais de tester ma solution, qui est une méthode globale.
Au moins par curiosité, juste pour savoir si cela fonctionne (et poster le Xorg.0.log le cas échéant).

Bonjour, après quelques années hors de Linux (red hat 7.2), j'y retourne j'étais déjà débuttant a l'époque mais la je galère, donc j'ai bien compris ce qui se passe a propos du "Xorg.conf", mais


avec ma vieille bécane,

j'ai installé la Fedora 11 (GNome) et je me trouve dans la même situation que "Kaeguri" après avoir vu que dans le "Xorg.conf" plein de choses étaient possibles, mais impossibilité de le trouver, jusqu'à ce que je trouve ce post sur le forum,

donc j'aimerai une explication (simple pour mon niveau de rouille dans l'utilisation de Linux...) si possible de comment pouvoir intégrer des résolutions plus confortable (genre 1280*960 ou plus si support de mon écran) que 1024*768 sur mon 19" (LG Flatron L1919S)

Voila ce que cette commande me donne sinon comme une Geforce 1 se me semble de mémoire ...
après exécution des commandes il m'annonce que tout est déjà disponible ...


le problème reste entier priori, puisque je n'ai toujours pas la possiblité de monter la résolution de mon ecran au dela des 1024*768, chose non réalisable car il m'est impossible de changer mon ecran qui apparait au systeme comme un CRT inconnus qui plus est ...

Je ne sais pas si cela peut aider, mais la "résolution" de mon problème c'est faite de manière plus que pragmatique.

1. J'ai lancé system-config-display ce qui a crée un xorg.conf
2. Je suis allé me balader dans Administration»Display»Hardware»Monitor et j'ai tenté de dire à F11 que j'avais tel moniteur (il propose un très large choix je pense que tu pourras trouver ton bonheur)
3. Ensuite je me suis battu dans Preferences»Display pour faire comprendre à F11 que l'écran "Unknown" trônant à côté de celui du "laptop" devait être mis en 1680x1050.

J'avoue avoir cliqué un peu comme un fou-fou, avoir eu quelques ratages mais au final vers le 3ème essai cela a marché.
Maintenant ma façon de faire n'est peut-être pas la meilleure (j'en veux pour preuve le "Kernel failure" auquel j'ai droit À CHAQUE FOIS que l'écran affiche 1680x1050 au démarrage).
