Pour le "startx", il me met le meme message d'erreur que j'ai posté plus haut :

Pour le "init 5", une fois appuyé sur Entrée pour confirmer la commande, il affiche une autre ligne dans le terminal, mais ça s'arrete là, sans effet visible....

J'ai essayé un autre truc : en root, j'ai tapé metacity --replace ... et le gestionnaire de fenetres revient impecable...sauf que quand je redémarre, faut refaire la manip sinon je n'ai pas de gestionnaire de fenetres ... donc je me dis que c'est pas la solution !!

P.S : il n'y aurait pas possibilité (comme sous Windows) de faire une restauration système pour revenir juste avant la màj (puis de ne pas la faire ce coup là !) ?
