FC8 fraichement installée, toutes mises à jour effectuées. ati X1650 pro en AGP. (la carte est neuve, de chez sapphire)
fonctionnement ok (malgré résolution pas maximale , et aspect baveux) avec pilote vesa.
J'ai installé les pilotes proprio ati en suivant la démarche expliquée sur le site, par le dépot livna , livna-config par la suite. (aiglx, et composite)

au REdémarrage , tout ok dans la séquence "afficher les détails" des daemons , puis après HAL ok , au moment d'arriver sur l'écran de login , pouf, écran noir.
Impossible de retrouver un terminal par alt + Fn (n= 1 à 6).
obligé de rebooter comme un sale avec le bouton façade de la tour.

Même problème sous ubuntu 7.10 , par l'install des pilotes méthode ubuntu , ou par envy.

Comment m'en sortir ?


( au passage : comment démmarer en runlevel 1 sous Fedora , quelle instruction donner à grub ?)
tape ctrl+alt+F1! ensuite "vi /etc/xorg.conf" et tape sur la touche "i" et édite là où ce trouve "fglrx" et remplace le par "vesa", tape ensuite sur la touche shift et 2x sur Z en maintenant la touche shift enfoncé! ensuite un "gdm-restart && exit"!

Est ce que tu a un écran wide? car les pilotes version 8.44.xx/Catalyst 7.12 déconne avec les résolution wide (voir sujet épinglé tout en haut de la même section que ton sujet!).

D'ici peut vas sortir la version des catalyst 8.01 (fglrx 8.45.xx) qui corrige pas mal de petit problèmes (toujours voir le sujet épinglé tout en haut!) avec les wides!
Quand tu démarres ta machine, l'affichage est bien en mode graphique si tu dois cliquer sur Détails, non ?

Tu devrais poster le contenu de quelques fichiers journaux : /var/log/messages, /var/log/xorg.0.log

Au passage, pour démarrer en level 1, il me semble que tu as juste à ajouter un 1 à la fin de la ligne de boot.

je n'arrive pas à accéder à un terminal virtuel une fois le problème survenu , ni sous ubuntu , ni sous fedora. La combinaison de touche ne fonctionne pas J'avais bien pensé éditer le xorg.conf avec vi .
C'est pour ça que je voulais savoir comment démarrer en runlevel 1.
j'ai un écran wide, mais j'ai pas mis une résolution wide ... je suis en 1280x1024 je crois , pas en 1680 en tout cas.
pour le post des logs il faudrait que j'ai accès à un terminal au moins , et là je ne l'ai plus. je vais essayer de booter sur le dvd d'install, il me semble que sur les anciennes versions on pouvait booter une partition comme ça.

Ah , je précise, c'est pas pour tourner avec le pilote vesa que je viens chercher de l'aide, mais bien pour avoir l'accélération 3D ( pas forcément pour compiz , mais pour aller fragger sous wolfenstein !!)

j'ai réussi à démarrer en runlevel 1 ( éditer le grub , ajouter single à la fin de la ligne kernel , puis booter ).Désactivé le composite dans le xorg.conf en passant les # qui vont bien, puis démarré X , je retombe sur l'écran noir.

puis tu as essayé de faire init 5
ça fait 2 fois que je change fglrx en vesa, et que je passe en init 5 ...et là toujours écran noir !
surprise, il doit y avoir une config automatique au démarrage du runlevel 5 qui réécrit le xorg.conf , puisque là je viens de vérifier, les modifs que j'ai fait qu xorg ne sont pas restées (j'ai même effacé le xorg , pour en mettre un que j'avais gardé de côté juste avant d'installer les pilotes).
c'est bien ça : ldconfig . Je suis donc repassé par un init 3 , remodifié le xorg;conf ( que je venais juste de modifier en runlevel1) , pour mettre vesa.
puis startx depuis mon bash utilisateur.
Là je suis sous X maintenant .

les logs ( quand tentative de démarrage avec pilotes proprio , et écran noir, puisque c'est bien le problème qui m'intéresse )

Même cause, même problème que julientavu.
J'ai également une ATI X1650 Pro (RV530 LE), et lorsque j'ai essayé les pilotes proprios, le boot se déroulait nickel, puis écran noir, et les les touches Ctrl+Alt+Fn ne donnaient rien non plus.
J'ai dû rebooté et relancé sous une version antérieur de kernel, afin de désinstaller les pilotes ATI, car j'avais beau modifié le Xorg.conf, il retrouvait toujours les valeurs initiales (soit en fgrlx).
Bref, ça tournne à peu près bien sous RadeonHD (pas de 3D), et j'attendais l'arrivée dans les dépôts livna de la nouvelle mouture des pilotes proprios comme l'indiquait récemment VINDICATORs ici
Mais si quelqu'un a une meilleure solution, je suis preneur.

PS : je ne suis pas sur la bonne machine, mais je regarde de plus près plus tard mon Xorg.log
enregistré votre nouveaux xorg.conf et supprimer xorg.conf~
Pour la nouvelle version il faut attendre un peut, car il y a eu des problèmes avec les scripts de compilation!

par contre pour le xorg.conf , c'est soit celui d'origine , soit celui modifié automatiquement après l'install des driver.

Bon ok j'ai jamais réussi à la faire fonctionner sous Fedora avec le driver proprio, sans avoir jamais su pourquoi. En même temps elle fonctionne si bien avec le driver Vesa qu'on regretterait de s'en priver.

Mais, dans mon cas, lorsque ma 9800 Pro a rendu l'âme, je n'avais pas spécialement envie de changer tout mon matériel.
Même si le cpu est à ses limites, j'avoue que cette carte a bien boosté ma config.
nouvo09 ta testé avec le radeonHD??? (J'en ai encore eu deux en mains sur des Pentium 4 et elles fonctionnes impec!)
