J'ai également le même problème. J'ai trouvé les références de ma carte wifi :
[root@localhost ~]# lspci

J'ai donc utilisé
le tuto sur l'installation générale du wifi puis
le tuto sur l'installation du chipset Atheros madwifi
L'instruction "ifconfig" me donne :

Si j'ai bien compris, il faut choisit le signal que l'on désire utilisé via la commande :

Tout à l'air debien marché, et la catre est bien recnnue. J'observe même un signal très élevé dans le menu de connection (prise en haut à droite près de l'heure). Le problèeme vient peut-être de :
