Je pense que le problème a été déjà abordé mais je n'ai rien trouvé.
Je possède un écran Hanns HC194D, je suis passé récemment à Fedora Core 5 (pas la 6 car il n'y a pas encore un super support pour les novices comme fedorafaq.free.fr). Et je souhaitais avoir un système complet rapidement.
Je possède une carte Nvidia Geforce 5700 et un écran 19 pouces HannsG HC194D.
Cet écran sous Windows fonctionne en 1600x1200 sans souci (en 60 Hz).
Il est parfaitement reconnu sous Linux, sauf que je plafonne en 1280x960 (même pas 1024...).
Voici une copie de mon xorg.conf. J'ai installé le package kmod-nvidia (comme recommandé sur fedorafaq.free.fr).
J'ai peut être un élément de réponse que je ne peux expliquer... j'ai trouvé sur le net que mon écran était donné pour 1280x1024 ... or sous Windows aucun souci il fonctionne en 1600x1200, bref je comprends pas.

Les fréquences de l'écran sont bonnes. Et j'ai ajouté à la main 1600x1200 mais ce n'est pas reconnu sous le centre de config KDE
