nVidia 1.0-6629 binary drivers for Fedora Core 3
These rpms are based on former nvidia rpm packages for previous versions found at
www.nvidia.com. These should recompile and run well with Fedora Core 3. Source rpms for version 6629 can't be downloaded from nvidia drivers so I used one of previous versions and repack new drivers from NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg0.run This package includes workaround for FC3 and creates device links also in /etc/udev directory.
Here are the steps to install drivers:
1.
Recompile package of binary drivers:
rpmbuild --rebuild NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629.src.rpm
rpmbuild --rebuild NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-6629.src.rpm
2. You can use option -D 'CUSTOM_RELEASE 6629.fc3' if you want to customize name of the package being build.
Stop all X
If you are booting with graphical login, switch to runlevel 3 with command "init 3".
3.
Install drivers (you need both rpm - kernel and GLX):
rpm -Uhv NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629.i386.rpm
rpm -Uhv NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-6629.i386.rpm
4.
Change /etc/X11/XF86Config to use driver
