Bonjour,

nous utilisons Fedora dans mon entreprise, et ce matin en arrivant impossible de booter sur le nouveau kernel pour deux de nos machines, qui se trouvent être des Dell Optiplex 960. Je suppose qu'il y a un souci avec ce type de matériel, mais à vrai dire je n'ai pas trouvé d'info sous Google, ce noyau étant peut être trop récent ? Je n'ai pas eu de souci avec d'autres pc Dell mais d'un autre modèle. Le souci sous les Optiplex c'est que le boot freeze apres le chargement du dernier service, juste avant l'écran de connexion. A force de reboot nous avons réussi à revenir sur un noyau 2.6.29 et là le boot se passe sans problème. Quelqu'un a-t-il le même problème ? Auriez vous une idée de solution, peut être une option lors du boot ?

Il faudrais sans doute aller consulter les rapports de bug ouverts pour ce kernel sur le bugzilla (bugzilla.redhat.com).

Avez-vous essayer de boot en mode texte et de lancer X à la main ?
Booter en mode texte et regardé la sortie de dmesg ?

Y a-t-il quelque chose dans les logs système ?

apres le chargement du dernier service, juste avant l'écran de connexion
Après le service «atd» (le dernier service chez toi ?) on exécute le rc.local et on démarre X (s'il n'est pas déjà démarré par le boot graphique) et on passe la main au gestion de session graphique.

Cela ressemble à un plantage du serveur X .
Quelle est ta carte vidéo ?
Le clavier est-il mort ?

Ne s'agit-il pas plutôt de booter en mode TEXTE (init 3) et de lancer X à la main ?

Merci pour vos réponses !
J'ai cherché sur le bugzilla de redhat, sans succès pour le moment. Concernant les logs, et la sortie dsmeg, je vais regarder, je vous tiens au courant. Concernant le clavier, au moment du freeze il est effectivement mort, il faut rebooter a la main en forcant le bouton off de la machine.
Enfin, pour la carte graphique, à vrai dire c'est celle intégrée par Dell, la commande lspci me renvoie l'info suivante :

C'est vrai qu'elle ne semble pas terrible, les effets du bureau ont un comportement instable par exemple, je dois les désactiver (ce qui est supportable au boulot :-P) ce qui indique peut être qu'elle n'est pas très bien supportée par Fedora.

Sur un DELL optiplex 755, même problème avec le nouveau kernel PAE. Le PC démarre bien en mode 3 (TEXTE), mais dès qu'on lance l'interface graphique, il freeze. En mode 5 il freeze au chargement de GDM.

Pour le moment, la solution le démarrer avec l'ancien KERNEL, et là pas de problème.
Après test en runlevel 3, le boot se passe effectivement bien mais le freeze se produit dès qu'on lance X...
Je vous donne ci-dessous le résultat de la commande dmesg après le freeze, je n'y ai pas trouvé de message d'erreur clair mais je ne suis pas une spécialiste.
Par ailleurs je n'ai rien trouvé de notable dans les logs système.
Pensez-vous que je dois ouvrir un bug dans le bugzilla de Redhat ?

1- quand tu démarres X essai un startx 1> startx.log 2>&1 et poste nous le fichier pour voir les erreurs
2- tu as rien dans Xorg.0.log ?

ok merci pour ces conseils, je vais essayer et je posterais le fichier. Comme le poste est utilisé je vais devoir attendre un peu pour relancer X.

Pour le Xorg.0.log j'ai un .old qui commence par :

donc je suppose que c'est bien celui, mais le seul message d'erreur que je trouve (si je ne me trompes pas, c'est préfixé par EE) est celui là, répété deux fois :

Est ce que tu veux la totalité du fichier ? Il est assez long à vrai dire, mais je peux le coller si ça aide.
Pour le bug, je vais peut être attendre d'avoir les résultats de ta commande au démarrage de X ? ce qui m'ennuie c'est que sans message d'erreur ça va pas être un super rapport de bug :-P or je préfère être le plus précise possible !

ça ressemble au même message que le Xorg.0.log non ?
En cherchant ce message dans le bugzilla, je suis tombée sur ce bug report : le dernier commentateur à l'air d'avoir le même problème que moi. Selon vous je rajoute un commentaire à ce bug ou j'en ouvre un autre ?

Petite précision, je viens de tester et en fait j'ai deux Optiplex 960 avec exactement le même processeur, mais je viens de voir que l'un est en kernel de type i586 et l'autre i686...

Déjà je ne comprend pas comment c'est possible, mis à part peut être que l'un des deux est en F11 suite à un upgrade packagekit et l'autre a été installé via un cd de Fedora.

Ensuite, celui en i586 boot sans problème sur le kernek 2.6.30...

Par ailleurs, celui qui pose problème à un kernel-PAE, pas celui qui marche (je ne sais pas si c'est lié).

Savez vous s'il est possible de remplacer le kernel 686 par un 586 puisque ça a l'air de marcher ?

Non, j'ai un noyau PAE sur P4 avec 2Gigas de ram.

Et j'ai aussi le même problème que Linuxline : démarrage avec le nouveau noyau 2.6.30 très très lent, ça passe en init 3 mais le lancement de x est impossible...

architecture amd (proco et chipset), 2go de ram aussi (m'a installé PAE en prévision de mes achats? :-D ) et CG Nvidia.
Le kernel 2.6.30 boot sans aucun soucis, il semble que celà touche les architectures Intel. Pourtant sur un P4 le chipset est surement sans rapport avec celui des Dell cités (CG 4500HD je suppose au passage).
Un jeu d'instruction propre à Intel qui cause soucis?
Problème entre le pilote et le noyau PAE sans doute... il y en a pas mal qui l'on avec le pilote nvidia... Je ne parle même pas de ceux en pilote propriétaire ATI, faut que je fasse des investigations...
Pour info j'utilise des versions récentes du .run de Nvidia, pas de kmod, ce qui veux dire que je dois réinstaller à chaque changement de kernel, ce qui va vite finalement bien qu'un poil plus compliqué.
Carte Ati avec le pilote libre, résolution en 1920x1080...

la seule solution pour le moment c'est d'installer le 2.6.30 non PAE (pas interessant pour les machines > 3Go de ram) en attendant un patch.

merci pour toutes les réponses ! Je suis allée voter pour le bug, apparemment c bien en rapport avec la carte graphique Intel, beaucoup des gens qui ont laissé des commentaires ont des config Dell similaire. A suivre donc !
